Dear Parents,

It is our mission to empower learners to grow academically, socially and emotionally by developing and supporting independent thinkers who strive for excellence in the classroom and community. With pride, I would like to emphasize the remarkable achievements, contributions and dedication of our students and teachers which elevate our esteemed institution to its zenith.

I am fortunate to have been with New Indian Model School, Dubai. During my time, I have had the opportunity to serve the staff, students, parents and the community in a variety of roles.

Participation in Dubai International Kite Festival 2015:

Dubai International Kite Festival 2015, which was one of the most spectacular events conducted in Dubai on 1st of February so as to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Dubai Shopping Festival, endowed a rewarding and exciting experience to our students too. The attempt was to break the existing Guinness World Record of 10000 participants. The event offered a golden opportunity for our kite-flying enthusiasts of about 700 students from grade 7, 8, 9 & 11 which paved a way for them to be a part of this record-breaking feat. The spectacular sight of multi colored kites in various directions and the eagerness to let their kites fly higher made the children immerse in a world of pleasure and fun.

 

What Works Literacy and Creativity Program:

The program which was conducted on 23rd February 2015 at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Medical Academy, Dubai Healthcare City endowed a unique experience to our teachers and students. Nayyara Younus and Ganga Sudeep of Grade VIII accompanied their parents and attended the session – ‘Test for Good’, steered by Dubai Autism Centre, as a part of collaborative learning. The sessions for Effective Language Teaching and Learning attended by the English teachers paved the way to empower the professionalism in them. It was really a great experience for the teachers of English Department to interact with fellow educational professionals who shared the same goal of delivering world class education in Dubai.

 

Gulf Asian Quiz Competition

Selected students from Grade IX – XI participated in the gulf Asian quiz competition held in Gulf Asian School, Sharjah.

 

Innovative Inventions by the Budding Scientists of NIMS, Dubai

Our students availed a golden opportunity to take part in the Best Science Show Contest held on 12th February 2015, which was organized by Dubai Municipality at Children’s City .The event paved the way for our students to expose their creative and innovative ideas spotlighting the exploration of the scientific arena. Ganga Sudeep of VIII O & Fahma Shaheem of VIII L presented the projects ‘Energity’ and ‘Hydraulic City’ respectively. The wide array of projects presented by many schools in Dubai cast a spectacular spell on all. Ganga Sudeep brought accolade to our school by bagging the first prize for her innovative project, Energity (City with Energy) and the moment upheld our pride and prestige when Ms. Naila Al Mansoori, the Head of Children’s City honored her with award and the title ‘Innovative Scientist. The other project too won apt appreciation.

 

TIMSS (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study)

TIMSS provides the reliable and timely data on the knowledge level and achievement of the students worldwide. This year, Grade VIII N was selected by KHDA for the same. It was conducted on 16th February and the students attended it with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit.

 

Green Valley NIMS An Insight Into Vegetable Gardening.

Our young cultivators have been striding on the path of appreciable progress in vegetable gardening by bringing forth the surplus yield from the school vegetable garden.

 

Food Fiesta 2015

As part of Dubai Food Festival, the students of Grade VIII celebrated the related event on February 18, by rendering a spectacular treat to all with a wide array of yummy cuisines of various countries. It was a magical splendor of a blend of cuisines. Besides this, a worthy deed was put forth by them by providing healthy sandwiches to the non-teaching lady staff of our school, thereby enticing them towards the consumption of healthy diet in an apt quantity. The initiative for bringing healthy sandwiches for the purpose was taken by the students.

The students of Grade 5 to 7 were provided an opportunity to acknowledge the importance of healthy diet. Based on the festival, students were asked to include food, rich in different components and they were encouraged to share them. Students were highly enthusiastic while given a chance to prepare posters based on the same. An awareness program through skit & song was conducted, followed by a seminar by our school doctor to inculcate the healthy food habit in students.

Career Guidance for Grade XII

A career based seminar presented by the faculty members of Atlas Educational Institute kick started with an introduction about the chairman Mr. Muhammad Munseer and the CEO Mrs.Prameela Devi of AGI. The students were briefed about the variety of courses offered by Calicut University (Kerala), Madurai University (Tamil Nadu) and ICLBAT (Ajman). The power point presentation on various courses offered by these universities provided a vista of opportunities to our students. Application forms were distributed to the students at the end of the session. The concluding session raised the heart beats of the students as they were eagerly waiting to know the lucky person who would get AED 500 deduction in the tuition fee. Inshia Beegum of XII F was declared as the lucky winner. The students were provided with brochures and leaflets of AGI Branches. The seminar was truly very effective and informative.

Dessert making Competition

was held on 04-06-2014 for Classes VIII-X . The budding chefs were expected to present mango desserts in varied tastes, aroma and flavor… All the children participated enthusiastically and made yummy, colorful desserts which were captivating and mouth watering to the spectators.

Report on Earth Day Celebration (Grade 8-10) (22-04-2014)

Earth Day was celebrated on April 22 by students of Grade 8-10 paving the great way for our school to showcase classroom environmental education and to engage the whole school community in making a difference.

As an initial attempt to mark their contribution towards the conservation of energy and to instill its importance, the electrical gadgets were switched off from 8.30 am to 9 am, for which the whole school co-operated.

Autism Awareness Campaign (Grade 8-10 FN)

An Autism Awareness Campaign was organized on 28th April, 2014. It was a program geared to promote the awareness of autismin children worldwide. The campaign was attended by the students of Grade 8-10. Ms. Aisha and Ms. Joel of Dubai Autism Centre addressed the students.

The theme was very well received by the students. Various aspects of autism including its causes, signs and treatment were discussed.

The Speakers explained the audience about the facilities provided to the children with autism which included speech and language, occupation, movement, art, and music therapies. The end of the campaign was marked by a question and answer session .

Beautiful posters conveying messages regarding autism were put up by the students. The campaign was indeed a huge success.

Dubai Foundation for Women and Children

An awareness program was given on 15th May 2014 for the students of grade 7 on CHILD PROTECTION by Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.

Earth Day Celebration (Grade 8-10 FN)

Earth Day was celebrated on April 22 paving the great way for our school to showcase classroom environmental education and to engage the whole school community in making a difference.  The  programme began with the thought provoking words on Environmental preservation by Hiba Musthafa -X M. The activities offered opportunities to instigate awareness on the preservation of our environment . An oath taking by the whole school was done with a strong determination that they need to uphold their treasure-our Mother Earth with utmost care and concern.

The display of the creative works by our budding artists enhanced the beauty of the event.

A VISIT TO SHARJAH ISLAMIC MUSEUM 26 & 27 May 2014

The two days educational tour conducted by NMS DUBAI for the students of grade VIII to the Sharjah Islamic Museum was very useful and beneficial to both students and teachers.The glorious Quran and the Hadeeth of Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) are full of exhortations.  All items of exhibits helped everybody to explore more about it.

The handicrafts and models exhibited there testify the unparallel skills of the ancient people who utilized their time to contribute something to the future generation.
